Why work with UWITC?
Certainly you could work with other IT service providers and collaboratives - both within and outside the United Way system. However, we believe that UWITC offers technology and cost savings that are far above those other providers.
- Our services are hosted in the state-of-the-art colo facility in Newark Delaware at Hosting.com that is staffed 24/7. It has a SAS70 certification as well as a PCI DSS certification.
- We have built an extensive Citrix environment for our remote access which offers a great performance boost over the other technology, allows us to offer published applications not just published desktops, and supports a wide range of workstations - including macintosh and linux. It also allows us to integrate directly with local workstations without having to go through a web portal. In addition, this Citrix environment is fully redundant.
- We can offer two-factor authentication using SecureID. As you know, two-factor authentication is essential to PCI DSS compliance.
- We have a completely redundant environment and can offer less than 1 minute failover in case of an outage. This includes redundant SANs, redundant servers, redundant 200mb/s internet connections, redundant firewalls, redundant core switches, etc.
- We guarantee our uptime. If we're not up, you don't pay!
- The IT Collaborative makes extensive use of monitoring technologies for our network, servers, and applications that allow us to recognize, diagnose, and fix problems quickly. For instance, we monitor all ANDAR databases with SQL DIAGNOSTIC MANAGER from IDERA. This tool has allowed us to work with helix to identify a number of serious bugs effecting processing over the last month alone. In addition, every server is monitored in real time for performance problems as well as event log entries and patch installations. We are capable of monitoring every switch port, every firewall, every router in real time using SolarWinds.
- Our file servers have the ability to allow users to restore versions of their documents – not just ones that were backed up nightly.
- We have an IDS system that scans all of our network traffic to report on suspicious behavior or patterns as well as scans all systems monthly for security problems.
